Sunday ride out – New Forest

I’ve been for a ride out with some of the members of the Yamaha Diversion club today. This started with a gentle run from Newbury to Ower in Hampshire with another member, starting out arounbd 7:15am. The idea was to meet up with some of the others for the Breakfast Run to Lepe Beach on the Solent looking towards the Isle of Wight. Unfortunately the weather was very wet so we didn’t see much out at sea. Breakfast was good. Afterwards we rode back to the starting point for the main run.
The main run was round the New Forest with a few scheduled stops including a lunch stop at Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum. Although with time being short there was not enough time to visit the museum itself, perhaps on another day. At this time the weather improved and allowed us to dry out a bit!

The run through the Forest featured many different roads from straight to quite twisty, but the thing they had in common is the 40mph speed limit imposed on all the roads in the forest. We saw many horses, either being ridden or grazing beside the road, there were a number of cows but we didn’t see any deer this time.

Total mileage for the day was 200 miles, including the fast trip back via Romsey, Stockbridge and the A34 to Newbury.
