Hosepipes banned by Thames Water

Not yet, but will be from April, so the article says BBC NEWS | England | Hosepipes banned by Thames Water.

What is all the fuss about, I don’t think these water people have realised this yet, but we live on a bloody island, we are surrounded by water. This is sea water, but has anyone actually done any studies to determine if building a couple of desalination plants will sort us out? Wikipedia Desalination article gives you an overview of the desalination options. Desalination is used widely throughout the middle east, north Africa and parts of the USA. Following some of the links in the article will show that interest in desalination is increasing worldwide, but obviously not in the UK.

Things can only get worse, the water companies need to start spending their huge profits on new sources of water instead of forcing hosepipe bans on their customers.

I will be getting my jet wash out at the weekend to give my car a good clean before the ban comes in. I may even give the bike a wash too, just for good measure. While I’m at it I think my garden could do with a damn good watering too.
