First Ride out of the year.

The car temperature was showing -1C and there was a covering of frost when I got in it to move it out of the way to get the old motorbike out of the garage. The local roads round the estate were icy so I had to take it quite carefully until I got to the main roads. But roundabouts were still a bit icy in places so it was quite a hairy ride to the start of the run at Fox’s Diner. The worst part was filling up with petrol at a filling station that had a partially flooded entry and ice covered approach. Not my idea of fun!

I had a good, if a bit on the cold side, run today. Overall I did about 150 miles visiting Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and of course West Berkshire. The roads were very mucky, lots of mud, horse droppings, water and initially ice. I’ve now got a filthy bike to clean some time but that will have to wait until next weekend as its now too dark to get out, plus the rain has stared.

As this was the first run out this year, I’m hoping to do a few more and do a lot more than 730 miles in a year!
