I’m currently trying out an interesting bit of software that is supposed to enable a PSP to play multiplayer games over the internet when the game was originally intended to work with a number of PSP near each other. The ida is that there is a piece of software that listens for game requests from the PSP and bridges this across to a central server wnere other people can connect in, thus appearing to be close by when in fact they are not. The site is http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/index.php.
My configuration is slightly unusual in that I am using a laptop running Linux with both a wireless card (D-Link DWL-G650) and an ethernet card that then connects to my local network. The software seems to work, I can browse the various arenas. I now need to arange for a friend of mine to get on so I can wup his scrawny ass.
Another point of interest is that the traffic is actually going over 2 wireless connection and routed through 2 linux boxes. The second one is my main linux server and wireless router. It has 3 PCs (now) routing through it across to my access point which then connects to the cable modem and the net.
