Trains – What a Shambles

So what happened today? Some muppets cut through power cables near Twyford causing total chaos for train services between Reading and London Paddington today. I got as far as Reading and turned back, eventually getting home to do some work. It was the more productive option. I didn’t fancy standing all the way to Waterloo to eventually get into work around 10:30.

It seemed no-one had a clue what was going on, there were so many FGW workers in their hi-visibility vests running round with their heads up their arses. Their advice was to go via Waterloo. Big deal, this route takes nearly 90 minutes, compared to 25 minutes into Paddington normally.

I see now there have now been line closures that are going to affect all the poor souls that did manage to get into Paddington on their return journey.

What is it going to be like tomorrow, well I frankly don’t know. FGW report that they will be operating a normal service, funny that, they’ve not been operating a normal service for months now! Unless they call the usual bad service, delayed overcrowded trains a normal service.

I made the right decision, work from home, get lots done and not have to put up with a bad journey home.
