Train service compensation

After the cancelled trains on 27th October, I found a claim form on the First Great Western website detailing how to make a claim for disrupted travel. So, with form completed and ticket for the 27th I went into my local station ticket office and claimed my compensation. This worked out to be about 50% of the daily rate and was given to me in cash right there. Not bad, it paid for my lunch today! Shortly after I had put in my claim another regular commuter did the same.

So one to watch out for after major disruptions is for any future compensation claims. It seems this is not something they are going to advertise widely, plus there is a time limit as to when you can claim, limited to about 2 weeks after the event. Anyone not yet claimed should get their forms in now.
